Who they are

Morgantha is a totally benign, perfectly kind old woman with a cart she pushes up and down the Old Svalich Road, from which she peddles her wares: dream pastries!

What the party knows

  • Lives at the grain mill known locally as Old Bonegrinder with her two daughters
  • Current target demographic: desperate Barovian refugees gathered outside Vallaki’s Mourning (eastern) Gate. Although, she has no regrets about selling to the impoverished folk dwelling within the town walls, either.

Personality

  • Polite, sweet, but she ain’t takin’ no shit.

Where we’ve seen them

  • Session 03 - Kolyan’s Burial — she sold a pastry to Varnish
  • Session 8
  • Session 13 - The Lost and The Found (Neyavr 4) - Victor Vallakovich informed the party that Erasmus had spotted Morgantha haunting the Refugee Camp, identifying her as a night hag. This intelligence revealed that Morgantha possesses a heartstone—a crucial component needed for the ritual to rescue Stella Wachter’s soul from the Ethereal Plane.
  • Session 15 - Killing Izek (Neyavr 5, Morning) - The party learned from Franz about his recurring nightmare featuring an “onyx stone,” which Victor identified as likely Morgantha’s heartstone. Victor also showed the party a blueprint of Old Bonegrinder from the Baron’s library, revealing a hidden compartment in the millstone where the hags’ coven contract might be stored. These discoveries furthered the party’s plans to confront Morgantha and obtain her heartstone.
  • Session 19 - The Con at Old Bonegrinder (Neyavr 7) - Met two businessmen at her door—“Radu Tyminski” and “Emric Cantemir” of “Tyrone & Sons Holdings, LLC” (Arden Nalero and Varnish Gothorn in disguise). The pair presented a lucrative business proposal: leveraging Vistani connections to expand the dream pastry distribution network beyond the Valley of Barovia. Intrigued by their pitch about marketing pastries to additional children and bringing higher volume to the windmill, Morgantha invited her daughters Bella and Offalia downstairs to discuss the opportunity. While all three hags gathered around the businessmen, Fig Fleetfoot and Choppy Gibbles (invisible via Victor Vallakovich’s greater invisibility spell) infiltrated the upper floors and stole the coven’s contract from a hidden compartment in the millstone, along with rescuing the captive children Fyodor and Myrtle. When “Radu” received a dramatic fake call on his “speaking stone” about their company being liquidated by private equity, Morgantha was impressed by the legitimacy of their business (the speaking stone particularly) but disappointed when they withdrew their offer. She remained completely unaware that her contract had been stolen and the children rescued. Her true name was revealed on the contract: Morgantha Stormreaver.
